Improve your running with Yoga for Runners

Did you know that some of the world's most famous athletes and sports people do yoga to complement their physical training—Carl Lewis, Andy Murray, Venus and Serena Williams, and the New Zealand Rugby team. Yoga is a proven method of correcting and preventing injuries in sport and gives you the mental focus required to reach your highest potential in any sport.

A new course called Yoga for Runners is now being held in Westport and Castlebar. The course runs over a period of eight weeks and is a series of yoga classes designed to target weaknesses and imbalances in the runner's physique. The classes are themed so that each one has a particular focus including breath awareness, balance, effortless effort and mental focus; and they use the universal principles of alignment of Anusara yoga to work on hips and thighs, core, upper body and lower legs, strengthening weak areas, and opening up tight areas to make for fluid, balanced running.

Yoga for Runners will be starting up in Castlebar on Thursday October 18 at 6.30pm in the Castle Suite, Castle Leisure Centre, Moneen, and a new course will be starting in Westport on Wednesday October 31 at 6pm in the Old CBS, Newport Road. No previous yoga experience necessary.
