The Education Working Group of Mayo County Development Board and Mayo North East Leader Partnership Co is organising the Education, Training, and Supports for Unemployed Expo in The Newman Institute, Ballina, on October 18 2012, which will run from 10am to 4pm.
The aim of the exhibition is to provide adults from the Ballina area with information (eligibility criteria, costs, dates, contact details, etc ) on the wide range of training and educational opportunities as well as information on the various supports, work placement programmes, and employment opportunities available to them. At the expo there will be a “Supports for Jobseekers” section for unemployed people in the Ballina area and this initiative will be hosted by Mayo North East Leader Partnership Co in collaboration with the County Development Board.
The exhibition will provide an opportunity for adults to access information regarding the wide range of education, training, and employment supports that are available to them in the county and surrounding regions. Information on both accredited and non-accredited courses will be available ranging from part-time to full-time and evening and weekend courses.
Speaking at the launch of the event in the Newman Institute in Ballina on Wednesday, October 10, the chairperson of the County Development Board, Cllr Eddie Staunton stated: “By bringing the providers of education and employment together into the one venue, local people will be presented with a one-stop-shop for opportunities.”
Siobhán Carroll-Webb, from Mayo North East added: “Mayo North East has identified that access to relevant information on supports for jobseekers and job opportunities is one of the major issues for jobseekers, so this expo aims to provide information from a range of agencies in one location.”
Agencies, third level colleges, schools, training centres, community groups, and others involved in delivering education and training, including community, adult, and post-Leaving Certificate courses in County Mayo will exhibit at this event. Job seeking and interview skills training will be available on the day, as well as an opportunity to book an appointment to have your CV written.
There will be free admission on the day and everybody is welcome.
