The tragic passing of Mr Eugene Gillespie in Sligo at the weekend has led to widespread shock and sadness across Mayo.
His friends in the Connaught Veteran and Vintage Motor Club have postponed their planned indoor car show at Breaffy House Resort on Sunday as a mark of respect to their friend and best known member.
A spokesperson for the motor club told the Mayo Advertiser: “It’s such a sad day for the Connaught Veteran and Vintage Motor Club with the tragic death of Mr Eugene Gillespie, one of our best known and prominent members. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
“As a mark of respect to a true gentleman and great friend of the club, we have decided to postpone our up-coming indoor car show at Breaffy House, Castlebar on 30 September.” May he rest in peace.
