The Royal Hotel and Theatre enjoyed an action-packed weekend when all hands were on deck for four very successful events. For the crew at the Royal the weekend kicked off on Thursday morning when more than 1,000 cuppas were served to a large audience at the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice Coffee Morning in association with Midwest Radio and The Royal Theatre. The audience were also treated to music and theatre performances throughout the morning, including a scene from the hugely popular It’s The Real McCoy.
On Friday afternoon, Dara O Briain was seen on the streets of Castlebar, in and out of shops sporting a Mayo flag – he was of course getting into the sprit for his show on Friday night, Craic Dealer which left many people smiling well into Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday the floors of three stages at the theatre echoed with the taps of tiny Irish dance shoes during the Dot Redmond Memorial Feis. On Saturday evening the team were erecting the largest screen in Connacht in preparation for the screening of the Mayo match on Sunday. Close to 1,000 people showed up to the Royal Hotel and Theatre to cheer Mayo on.
