Community fete and horse ride fundraiser in The Neale

A major fundraiser in aid of popular Neale man Tim Kelly will draw to a close with a community fete and charity horse ride in The Neale on Sunday October 7.

The day starts at 2pm with the charity horse ride leaving The Neale village as they head off on a cross country run covering miles of some of the best countryside in the west. The planned route will provide a great afternoon of jumping for all the riders. There will be a hack for less experienced riders and children.

While the horse ride is under way the will be a fete providing lots of entertainment in the village. Among the attractions on the day are “eBay comes to The Neale” where you can grab yourself a bargain from hundreds of new and nearly new items on sale. Items include handbags, shoes, clothes, ornaments, toys, DVDs, books, etc.

While you shop there will be lots of entertainment for the children including bouncing castles, face painting, and penalty shoot-out. And while the children play adults can relax with tea, coffee, and home baking.

You can round the evening off by welcoming the horses back from the charity ride and hack at about 5pm. Once all the horses are corralled, there will be a barbecue with live music by Tempo in the marquee followed by a disco.

The Friends of Tim fundraiser was started in June of this year by friends and neighbours of local man Tim Kelly (47 ) who suffered horrific injuries in a freak road accident last January. The father of three received multiple internal and external injuries in the accident in Co Cavan, leading to the amputation of his left leg above the knee.

The final event of the fundraiser will be a pub quiz in Costello's Bar, Ballinrobe, on Thursday October 11 at 9.30pm. There will be a raffle and spot prizes on the night. Tables of four cost €40.

Friends of Tim would like to thank everybody who has given so generously and supported the various events over the past four months.
