Worried about that extra weight? Thinking about getting more active? Want to improve your overall health and wellbeing?
Mayo Sports Partnership, Ballina Family Resource Centre, and Claremorris Athletic Club in collaboration with HSE West are offering a new eight week programme for men aged 35 plus over the coming weeks in the Ballina, Claremorris and Westport areas.
Following on from the very successful pilot programme earlier this year in the three areas, a series of open information nights are planned over the next couple of weeks. One hundred and seven men took part in the programme with 85 per cent experiencing significant health gains over the duration of the 16 week initiative. The programme will be open to new participants with a free health check available from 6.30pm. Participants are advised to come early for the health check so as to avoid disappointment.
The eight week programme will culminate in a 'Men on the Move' 5km walk/run at a venue and time to be arranged.
The open nights are in the following venues: Ballina Family Resource Centre on Monday September 17 at 7.30pm; Wyatt Hotel, Westport on Tuesday September 18 at 7.30pm and
Claremorris GAA Clubhouse on Thursday September 20 at 7.30pm
Programmes on offer include walking, jogging, cycling and other activities. A physical activity leader and representatives from the HSE and Mayo Sports Partnership will be present on the night to answer any question that you may have about any of the proposed activities.
If you wish to register for the initiative please call the Mayo Sports Partnership office on 094 904 7025, email [email protected] or text your name to 087 697 3093.
So get out there and get active and be part of this super programme.
