Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring officially opened the multi-use games area in Balla on Tuesday.
Under the Sports Capital Programme, which is administered by the Department of Transport, Tourism, and Sport, funding is allocated towards the provision of sports facilities at national, regional, and local level. It is the primary vehicle for promoting the development of sports and recreational facilities in Ireland.
Mayo County Council was allocated a grant under the Sports Capital Programme – Local Authorities Initiative 2011 towards the provision of a MUGA in Balla.
“I am delighted to officially open this MUGA in Balla,” Minister Ring said. “I know that this facility has already been well-used by the local community and I hope this use will increase and continue.”
