Erris RFC
The club’s mini/junior rugby season will recommence tomorrow, September 8, at 3pm at the Carne-Corclough sports field, Corclough West, Belmullet, and each Saturday thereafter. Anyone who missed the registration can register at the weekly training sessions.
Mary O’Malley reading
As part of the Residencies Revisited Series, former writer in residence Mary O'Malley reads in Charlestown Arts Centre on Thursday September 13 at 8pm.
Originally from Connemara, Mary O’Malley now lives in the Moycullen Gaeltacht. She is the recipient of a number of awards and is a member of Aosdana. She is the author of six collections of poetry. She writes for radio, is an occasional broadcaster, and teaches poetry on the MA in writing course at NUI Galway.

Céilí in Hollymount
A céilí will be held in Cois Abhann Centre, Hollymount on Saturday November 8.
Dancing 10pm to 1am. Proceeds from the night to Hollymount road race and Hollymount Ladies GAA Club.
Westport Civic Trust lecture
The Bog Bodies of Europe lecture will be given by Dr Ingelise Stuijts of The Discovery Programme. The lecture will be on Tuesday September 11 at 8pm at The Atlantic Coast Hotel.

SafeTALK
SafeTALK is a three hour training programme that prepares anyone over the age of 18 to identify people with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. People who complete the training will be better able to move beyond common tendencies to miss, dismiss, or avoid suicide.
Mayo North East in collaboration with the National Office for Suicide Prevention will deliver SafeTALK training in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford, on September 26 at 6pm. Training is free but places are limited and must be booked in advance.

Claremorris exhibition
This year's Claremorris Open Exhibition will be launched by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring on tomorrow, September 8.
The launch will take place in the COE Gallery, Chapel Lane, at 8.30pm. There will be a preview of the exhibition from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
Painting classes

Castlebar pantomime auditions
Castlebar pantomime adult auditions will take place at 8pm on September 10, 12, 17 and 19 at the GAA Sports Complex, McHale Road, Castlebar.
Rehearsals begin from 8pm to 10pm Monday September 24 and will continue each Monday and Wednesday night (excluding Bank/Christmas holidays ) until the pantomime is presented at the TF Royal Theatre in January 2013.

Free Westport celebration
A free afternoon party, from 2pm to 6pm, will take place in the grounds of Westport House on September 9.
Westport Town Council is delighted to be co-hosting this free event with The Irish Times in order to celebrate the Best Place to Live in Ireland award.
There will be lots of activities and entertainment and all the attractions at Westport House will be open to the public with free admission for everyone.
Prior to the Westport House Party, an ecumenical celebration will be held at Holy Trinity Church at 1pm.
Schools asked to sign up for READaTHON
MS Ireland is calling schools in Mayo to sign up for the 25th MS READaTHON.
MS Ireland is contacting schools from the beginning of September with information brochures and entry forms. The 25th MS READaTHON reading period will take place for one month from October 12 to November 12. www.msreadathon.ie
Cúram Family Support
The community based family support project is based in Curam Family Centre, Claremorris, and is a free and confidential service that offers support to parents of children (0 to 17 ) in the Claremorris area.
Parents and children can access regular support around any issue that may be causing stress in the family home, school, parenting difficulties or for parents who may have concerns about their child’s behaviour.
Names are being taken for upcoming Common Sense Parenting courses for parents of two to five year olds and parents of six to 17 years, which will take place in Curam Family Centre in autumn and early 2013 on 093 62096.

Cancer support services
Ballina Family Resource Centre is currently providing a facility for Mayo Cancer Support Association Outreach Services to run a support service in Ballina. This is available every Tuesday morning in Ballina FRC. This facility can be used by cancer patients and members of their family who have been affected by cancer.

Credit union art competition
Paddy Barnes may have mastered the art of boxing but now the Olympic double bronze medallist is encouraging people across the country to pick up a paintbrush or pencil to enter the 2012 All-Ireland Credit Union Art Competition.
The competition which is one of the biggest for children and adults alike on the island of Ireland is now open for entries from budding artists around the country.
