Mayo County Council Arts Office, Library Service, and Artsquad will celebrate All Ireland Poetry Day which takes place on Thursday October 4. Mayo Artsquad members are using their creative abilities to design a poetry tree. They are also putting a call out for submissions of inspiring poetry to dress the tree.
The poetry submissions can be an original poem or a favourite existing poem, the only requirement is that the poem has inspired you in some way. Maybe a poem got you through a difficult patch. Maybe you use a poem as a mantra. Maybe you are drawn back to a poem you learned at school or maybe you will put pen to paper and write an original poem.
Help spread some cheer and send in your uplifting poetry, explaining why it is inspiring to you. Poems and the reason why this particular poem is inspiring should be marked Poetry Tree and can be handed in/posted/e-mailed to any Mayo library or sent to Mayo County Council Arts Office by Friday, September 21.
