Dear Editor,
Is Ireland’s best neighbour to be found in County Mayo?
A search to find Ireland’s Neighbour of the Year has just been announced as part of this year’s People of the Year Awards which are organised by Rehab and broadcast on RTÉ One on Saturday, September 15.
This special award, presented in partnership with the Tubridy programme on RTÉ 2fm, aims to honour that special person who has gone to extraordinary lengths to support the people in our neighbourhoods, across the street and next door. It is about acknowledging the importance of neighbours – so often the glue that keep our communities together – and the role that they play in our lives.
If you think you know a neighbour who has done something extraordinary, who has made a real difference and who has inspired by his/her actions, then nominate him/her now.
You can do so by going online at www.peopleoftheyear.com or by getting in touch with the People of the Year Awards at 01 2057260 and a nomination form will be sent to you. Nominees may also be featured on Tubridy on RTÉ 2fm, which airs weekdays from 9am. The closing date for nominations is Friday September 7 at 12 midday.
Who knows but the winner of this year’s People of the Year Awards special category could be a reader of the Mayo Advertiser? Now, that is something the neighbours will want to talk about.
Kind regards,
Don Delaney,
