A 36-year-old man from Ballyhaunis has been charged with the possession of child pornography.
Aiden McIntyre, Lismeegan, Aghamore, Ballyhaunis, was before the holiday sitting of Ballina District Court on Wednesday.
Solicitor for McIntyre, Evan O’Dywer, made no application for bail. The solicitor made an application that the defendant receive appropriate psychiatric attention while in custody. An application for legal aid was also made.
Judge Conal Gibbons directed that McIntyre receive the appropriate psychiatric assessment and be granted legal aid. The defendant was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned to Harristown District Court on Friday for mention.
