Grants available to advertise your new start-up

If you are long-term unemployed but have a business idea you wish to pursue there are grants available to help you get started.

One such grant is the Technical Assistance and Training Fund from the Department of Social Protection which provides a grant of up to €1,000 to help with specific business start-up costs.

These include training on starting your own business; training on keeping proper accounts and bookkeeping; preparing business plans and submissions for funding, financial projections etc; business mentoring; advertising and marketing aids; safe pass; literacy and computer training; driving lessons - car and HGV – to a maximum of €350; manual handling; machinery tickets; skills training; small items of business equipment; public liability insurance costs associated with starting up a business.

To qualify for the fund you must be 12 months unemployed and be in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance or Jobseeker’s Benefit. You must also receive approval in advance in writing by a facilitator or enterprise officer.
