Connacht Textile Crafters exhibition at Turlough House

Traditional crafts are alive and thriving in the west of Ireland, and they will be celebrated in style during September and October at the National Museum of Ireland- Country Life, Castlebar.

The exhibition aims to showcase the wide range of domestic crafts, methods, and materials used today in Connacht. Many traditional crafts have developed creatively to incorporate modern tools, materials, and techniques. The exhibition will reflect this increasing diversity through a range of exhibits including garments, quilts, felted toys, and sculptural pieces. There will also be a wide selection of embroidery from traditional samplers to books. The Connacht Textile Crafters are a group of craft workers and artists from all over Connacht. The group started in 2003 and were initially called the Connacht Spinners and Weavers, reflecting the crafting interests of the founding members.
