Tributes paid to families at Castlebar area meeting

The members of Castlebar electoral area committee paid tributes to the late Mr Tony Kenny, Castlebar at their meeting this week.

Chairperson of the committee Concillor Al McDonnell started the tributes to Mr Kenny, informing the meeting that he was a brother of Clare Kenny, who works for Mayo County Council, and a first cousin of Cllr Henry Kenny (a member of the committee ) and Deputy Enda Kenny TD. He continued by saying that Mr Kenny’s death following a long illness represented a huge loss to his family and friends. Cllr Sean Bourke described Mr Kenny as a true gentleman, who displayed great dignity during his illness. Cllr Paddy McGuinness told the meeting that he had fond memories of Mr Kenny who often used to call into his business premises and was a great conversationalist.

Cllr Johnny Mee also asked that the committee note the passing of Mr Phil Noonan, Rathbawn Road, who worked as a mechanic for Mayo County Council for a number of years , whose ability to repair steamrollers was legendary. Director of Services for Mayo County Council Seamus Granahan joined in expressing sympathy to both families on behalf the county council.
