Skoda has further cemented its reputation of delivering outstanding customer service with another outstanding performance in the highly respected JD Power and Associates/What Car? 2012 Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS ).
Judged by thousands of car owners who live with their vehicles day-to-day, it is one of the most influential and eagerly anticipated reports in motoring. The results are published in the June issue of the UK's What Car? magazine.
Skoda was placed second overall just behind Jaguar and tied with Lexus in the manufacturer rankings, out of the 27 brands included in the UK-based study. This marks the 20th year in which Skoda has ranked in the Top Ten, an achievement it says is unequalled.
The study is based on owner evaluations of their vehicle and dealer across 67 attributes grouped in four measures of satisfaction. In order of importance, they are: vehicle appeal, which includes performance, design, comfort and features; ownership costs, including fuel consumption, insurance and costs of service/repair; vehicle quality and reliability; and dealer service satisfaction.
In the Small Family Cars category, positive owner feedback meant the Skoda Octavia placed number one in the class, the fifth time it has achieved the top spot in six years. The popular saloon and estate earned a five-star rating overall – the only car in the class to do so – and got the same top mark for mechanical reliability, interior quality, and running costs. In every other category, including for dealer service, it scored four stars.
The Skoda Superb was ranked fourth of all the 118 models included in the study.
Commenting on the performance to the Advertiser, Skoda Ireland brand director Zac Hollis said: “Buyers appreciate that we offer outstanding quality and value, but this sort of result gives further assurances to buyers that they are making a shrewd choice with Skoda.”
The 2012 UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study is based on 17,686 online evaluations by vehicle owners in the UK after an average of two years of ownership. The study was fielded from January to February 2012.
This annual JD Power and Associates study provides consumers with reliable and accurate information about many vehicle models, and helps manufacturers provide high levels of satisfaction to their customers.
