Swinford gears up for Siamsa Sraide festivities

The month of August is generally the high point of the holiday season and where better to spend your holiday than in Swinford. Siamsa Sraide means Fun on the Street and is an ideal family festival for recessionary times with five days and nights of free entertainment on the streets.

The programme includes open air dancing to Jimmy Buckley and John McNicol, a crossroads ceilis on a wooden floor, an international busking competition (prize fund €2,500 ), a heritage day, historical walk, sporting and children’s events, etc. Crafts and food stalls and a European market will line the streets of Swinford next Tuesday, August 7, and Wednesday, August 8.
