There was good news for one north Mayo school recently when St Oliver Plunkett NS, The Quay, Ballina, was awarded a bicycle parking shelter.
The shelter was provided by An Taisce Green Schools after the school was nominated by Eva Gannon, An Taisce Green Schools travel officer due to its great work in promoting cycling to school.
Teachers and pupils officially opened their shelter during Bike Week 2012.
The school was awarded its fourth Green Flag for travel in May 2011 and holds weekly WOW - Walk on Wednesday and COW - Cycle on Wednesday days to promote sustainable travel to school.
