Castlebar Afterschool Club now enrolling

Castlebar’s Afterschool club which is based at Castlebar Celtic Clubhouse is now enrolling for September with limited places still available. An enrolment day takes place tomorrow (Saturday ) at Celtic Clubhouse from 5pm to 7pm.

The club is the brainchild of Helen Lavelle who worked as a registered childminder for seven years. However Ms Lavelle found she had to rely on family and friends to take her daughter to Irish dancing and swimming classes as work commitments prevented her from doing so.

That is where the first seeds of the idea grew.

The Afterschool Club is a safe place where primary school children can take part in sports and activities in a secure and fun environment.

Qualified and experienced staff are on hand to supervise and coach the children in a variety of activities including soccer, Gaelic football, Irish dancing, music and drama, arts and crafts, and even swimming lessons as the club is situated in close proximity to Castlebar swimming pool. Children will be escorted to and from the pool.

Children who attend the Afterschool Club will be collected from school by bus. They will play for 20 minutes, then do their homework under supervision, enjoy a snack, engage in an organised activity, enjoy some more free play before being collected by a designated parent/guardian.

Staff are Garda vetted and experienced.

The Afterschool Club is fully insured with policies and procedures in place. Care can be arranged for children during school holidays and service training days if arranged in advance.
