Mayo supermarket wins award for excellence in retailing

Eurospar Belmullet is amongst a small group of retailers from around the country, which was recently honoured at the inaugural Top of the Tree (TOTT ) retail awards run by BWG Foods (owners and operators of the EUROSPAR brand in Ireland ). The awards programme recognises best practice and outstanding retail practice in several supermarket departments: customer care; off-licence; butchery; fruit and veg; and delicatessen.

Brogan and Howard’s EUROSPAR Belmullet scooped two Top of the Tree Awards for their delicatessen and butchery departments, one of only five TOTT awards achieved in these respective categories nationwide.

Annette Howard said, “Being a recipient of a Top of the Tree award is a significant achievement for us; we operate in a very competitive grocery market so it is a constant challenge to keep improving our offer while also remaining relevant and cost competitive to our local customers. This award is recognition for that effort but equally importantly it demonstrates to our shoppers that we are leaders in the field.”

The supermarket has become known for its outstanding commitment to local produce and customer needs. The supermarket, which employs 32 people locally, has been a recipient of the EUROSPAR five star award year on year since 2006. Top of the Tree winners will also be awarded the coveted EIQA (Excellence Ireland Quality Association ) Q Mark, further testament to the exceptional standards achieved by winning supermarkets.
