Judge adjourns Ulster Bank case until it sorts out problems

Judge Mary Devins this week adjourned a case being taken by Ulster Bank Ireland at Ballyhaunis District Court against a debtor until the bank got its ‘own house in order.’

Judge Devins told the court: “They have a bit of a cheek don’t they? I have no personal involvement with them either way, but I think we should adjourn this case until they get their own house in order.”

Judge Devins also invited the members of the press into her chambers after the court to show the poor condition of the chambers used by the judge before and after court. Judge Devins had previously criticised the decision to move the Claremorris and Kiltimagh district courts to Castlebar, because they were being housed in the renovated town hall, and compared it to the condition of the court house in Ballyhaunis which is still in use.
