Ballyhaunis Meet and Train has been operating since August 2011 and meets every Tuesday evening at 8pm and Saturday morning at 9am at The Multi Purpose Ball Court in the Friary Field, Ballyhaunis. The objective is to meet and train in a fun and friendly environment, to suit all fitness levels.
The group normally does a few minutes of warm ups and stretches and then separates into different activities. There is normally at least a walking group and a jogging group. Within its first year it was invited by Mayo Athletic Club to take part in their summer 5K series, which commenced in Castlebar on Tuesday last. It runs for four consecutive Tuesdays at 8pm. Ballyhaunis's run will take place on Tuesday June 26 at 8pm. All facilities have been laid on at Ballyhaunis Rugby Club, where you can tog out, shower, warm up and register etc for the race. Everyone is welcome to join us on the evening.
No matter what stage of fitness you are at, you and your family can join in on the evening. While the race will be timed, it is meant to suit all ages and fitness levels. The course has been accurately measured by an Athletics Association of Ireland professional and the race times will be recorded for all interested.
So come along and join us for the Ballyhaunis leg of the 5K Summer series. Party afterwards.
