New Enterprise Acceleration Programme to be launched in July 2012

The Innovation Centre at GMIT Castlebar along with South West Mayo Development Company are to launch their new Small Medium Enterprise Programme (now called the Enterprise Accelerator Programme ) in July 2012.

This is the third year of this programme where over 32 participants have taken part and 22 jobs have been created.

Maria Staunton, GMIT Innovation Centre manager, stated: “We deal with start-up companies on a daily basis and what we’re noticing is that more people are coming forward with innovative ideas. The centre is focused on creating new jobs and establishing high potential start-up companies (HPSU ) in the Mayo region.”

Lorraine Toner, RDP project officer for south west Mayo, stated: “South West Mayo Development Company strives to deliver programmes that stimulate economic activity through developing enterprises. The importance of relevant and supportive training in the area of enterprise is high on our priority list and we endeavor to support people in the southwest mayo region in strengthening their business position.”

Both GMIT and South West Mayo Development Company encourage people to come and talk to them about business supports available to them, such as capital funding, analysis, development or training.
