Gerry O’Neill, CEO of South West Mayo Development Company, has welcomed the recent decision by Minister Phil Hogan, to increase business grants under the Rural Development/LEADER Programme (RDP ) from 50 per cent to a very generous 75 per cent.
“We are delighted that Minister Hogan has provided a practical solution to the difficultly our clients were experiencing in raising a full 50 per cent to match their grant,” said Mr O’Neill. “We are very hopeful that our local financial institutions will now look more favourably on entrepreneurs who want to apply for a loan as part of their grant application.”
Mr O’Neill confirmed that business grants are available for new and growing businesses across south and west Mayo.
“We are very interested in hearing from people who have a business that is a little different from the norm,” he said.
