Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring and Cllr Gerry Coyle have been in contact again with the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government regarding the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme.
The Minister said: “I understand that Mayo County Council is proposing to construct a treated effluent outfall pipe in conjunction with a proposed wastewater treatment plant as part of the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme. In advance of these works they propose to carry out site investigation work on the foreshore for the proposed outfall pipe.
“A number of very important issues are being progressed with regard to environmental assessments, the foreshore licence process, and other issues in relation to the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme.
“I am in regular contact with the Department of Environment and Mayo County Council in relation to the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme and both I and Cllr Gerry Coyle will continue to make representations at the highest level in this regard.”
