Adebisi Shank are an electric, energetic, loud band from Wexford. Taking their cue from acts such as Battles, Oxes, and Lite, their debut LP This is the album of a band called Adebisi Shank shines through with rays of inventiveness that would teach a few of their contemporaries a thing or two in the art of writing, without ever leaning into the self indulgent persuasions many have succumbed to when attempting this sort of 'art noise'. The record was recorded in June 2008 at the famous Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, Maryland, and mastered at Inner Ear studios by Aloha guitarist, TJ Lipple. With the approval of such highly respected musical individuals it is already evident that this little three piece from Wexford will be making huge waves in and among the ever growing field of experimental, polyrhytmic, precision based music lovers. Since then the band have recorded their second album titled This is the second album by a band called Adebisi Shank to rave reviews.
Support for this show includes Bats and very special guests to be announced shortly. In early 2007 Bats began peddling their love around the island and have since played support to such acts as These Arms are Snakes, Gang Gang Dance, Down I Go, Horse the Band, Sebadoh, The Locust and Liars.
Toby Kaar appeared on a lot of people’s radars in January when he emerged as the undisputed winner from Whelans’ Ones To Watch mini-festival. Deservedly so too, because the now Bath-based Kaar is simply making some of the most exciting music around right now. Toby Kaar also plays the Forbidden Fruit Festival in Dublin this weekend and is definitely one to watch in the future.
So make your way to The Clubhouse this summer on July 28 as Adebisi Shank, Bats, and Toby Kaar will be showcasing some of the finest acts in the country right now.
