Business focus for St Louis further education (PLC) courses

The 2012 academic year sees St Louis Community School in Kiltimagh offering four comprehensive further education (PLC ) business/IT programmes.

Each programme typically includes a minimum of eight individual courses, leading to certification by FETAC at either level five or level six.

Microsoft Office Specialist, up to and including expert level giving the opportunity for students to achieve the master’s certificate from Microsoft and ECDL certification are also available.

The level five business award is made up of three options. On the eBusiness programme, for example, students focus on web authoring, the internet, and entrepreneurial skills. Optional subjects include desk top publishing, marketing practice, and word processing. The Business with Finance Focus programme introduces other topics such as accounting and book keeping, payroll and spreadsheet methods. The third programme, Business with IT Focus, includes further topics such as business administration skills, and database methods

The level six Business programme is focused on business administration, including courses on business management, word processing, professional presentation, customer services, teleservices, web authoring, business planning, spreadsheet methods, and communications.

All courses are taught by experienced and friendly tutors.

St Louis also offers career guidance, the use of well-equipped IT facilities, and help with study skills, word processing, numeracy and literacy. All classes are timetabled between 9am and 3.45pm, with most timetabled between 10am and 2.30pm.
