Four Mayo schools to receive permanent buildings — O’Mahony

Mayo Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony has been informed by Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn that four schools in Mayo – Richmond NS, Crossmolina; Behymore NS, Ballina; Lankill NS, Westport; and Ballyvary NS — are to start construction to replace the prefabs and build permanent accommodation.

Deputy O’Mahony described this as a great development for the schools and one that will not alone improve school facilities but also bring employment to the four communities.

“I’m delighted for the schools that have been included in this programme. These schools provide such a wonderful service to their communities and this announcement can only be good for them all.”

“Apart from the obvious benefits of replacing the prefabs with permanent structures there will be a very significant spin off in relation to jobs in the construction industry. I don’t think that we can understate just how important those jobs will be for unemployed people all around Mayo,” said Deputy O’Mahony.
