Register for the TweetUp climb of the Reek, which will take place on June 16.

The Irish SME community will be raising funds for Mayo Roscommon Hospice; however individuals and collectives are also welcome to fundraise for their own preferred charities.

Thinking of starting a small business?

Small Business Big Vision is a one day idea generation workshop for budding entrepreneurs who wish to explore potential business ideas.

The workshop will be run in two locations Ballina on Wednesday May 30 and Ballyhaunis on Monday June 18 from 9.30am to 4pm each day.

Cake/book sale

The Parents Association of Derrywash National school are having a cake/book sale in the Parish Centre, Castlebar on Sunday May 27 after 10am and 12pm Mass.

Take a walk on the wild side

The Irish Wheelchair Association annual sponsored walk takes place on June 2. This is a beautiful guided beach walk this year along the west side of the peninsula, on the sandy beaches, with a picnic at Cross Abbey.

If you want to take part this year contact Rose or Rosaleen on 097 81728 or 087 057 1393 for your sponsorship cards. Registration will take place at the Broadhaven Bay Hotel on Saturday morning at 9.30am.

Summer clear out

The Irish Wheelchair Association are collecting old clothes, blankets, sheets etc for recycling.

Please drop them off to the IWA centre in Logmore, Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.

All funds raised will go towards equipment for the new centre. For more information contact Rosaleen on 087 057 1393.

Castlebar Anglers 

The Frank Quinn Memorial Cup competition will take place on Lough Conn on Sunday May 27 (fly fishing and dapping only ).

Registration for the competition will take place from 10am at Healy’s Hotel, Pontoon. Competition starts at 11am with weigh in at Healy’s Hotel at 6.45pm.

All are welcome including new members.  

Tochar Phádraig Pilgrim Walk

The Tochar Phádraig Pilgrim Walks from Ballintubber Abbey to Croagh Patrick take place on Saturday May 26 May 2012  departing the Abbey at 8.30am. 

A backup car will accompany all the walkers to the end at Murrisk. Contact Ballintubber Abbey Office on 094 903 0934.

Achill people taking part in sky dive

On June 9, seven people from Achill— Barry Fitzgerald, Maria Lavelle, Rita Mc Namara, Grainne McCarthy, Mary McNamara, Tara Kilbane and John Gallagher will do a sky dive for Crumlin Children's Hospital Cancer research in Edenderry, Co Offaly.

25 Card Drive

Erris Agricultural Show, 25 Card Drive will take place in Cormack’s Pub, Drum on Friday May 25 at 9pm. Admission is €10. Raffle on night.

Foster care seminar in Castlebar

GMIT’s Nursing and Health Sciences Dept, Castlebar, will host the Irish Foster Care Association (IFCA ) May Seminar today (Friday May 25 ). Some 70 delegates are expected to attend the event which will be formally opened by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Frances Fitzgerald.

A new book, Compassionate Activism, An exploration of Integral Social Care, by Dr Mark Garavan will be launched after the final forum at 4.15pm.

Car boot sale

A car boot sale will take place in Main Street Car Park, Castlebar on Sunday May 27 from 8am to 3pm.  Phone 086 108 6502.

Westport Ladies GAA

A race night will take place on Friday May 25 in T Bourke’s Bar at 9pm.

The race night is to raise money to help send the Westport under 14 girls to Laois/Offaly to represent Mayo in Féile 2012.

Ryan Lynch Memorial Cup

The Ryan Lynch Memorial Cup takes place this year in Crossmolina GAA pitch on Tuesday May 29 at 7pm.

Belmullet U16 and U17's take part in this challenge match with Crossmolina and everyone is welcome.

Biodiversity events in Ballycroy

From Saturday May 19 to Sunday May 27 take part in a number of events are taking place in the visitor centre.

On Friday May 25 take part in a guided walk of the nature trail from 12pm; on Saturday 26 a visit from the Mayo branch of the Irish Wildlife Trust (2pm to 5pm ); on Sunday May 27 a talk about life in Greenland will be held from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

CCFE exhibition

Peter Cassidy from the Hardy Bucks will launch an exhibition of FETAC Level 5 art work at Castlebar College of Further Education on Friday May 25 at 7pm. All invited along.

Mayo Rose in Regional Finals

Mayo Rose, Deirbhile Kenny is taking part in the Rose of Tralee Regional Finals over the Bank Holiday Weekend in Portlaoise .

On Sunday June 3, seven Irish Roses will be chosen to go forward to the televised selection in August, while 16 international Roses will also be picked by the judges at the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel.

Bank Holiday Bingo

Bank Holiday Bingo will take place in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel, Belmullet on Sunday June 3 at 7.30pm in aid of fundraising for Our Lady's Secondary School, Belmullet.

Talk on bullying

Clinical psychologist, author, and broadcaster David Coleman is coming to the Broadhaven Hotel on Friday June 1 at 8pm to give a public talk for parents on the subject of recognising and responding to the emotional signs of bullying in children. All are welcome.
