Don Dillon was the winner of the gents’ competition with a score of 38pts, he finished two points in front of Mick Mellet with Jim Conlon coming home in third place on 33pts. The ladies’ competition was claimed by Catherine McNulty who scored 38pts. Kitty O’Connor came home in second on 36pts with Carmel Henry third. The Mary Staunton memorial scramble has been postponed until further notice. This weekend’s competition will be sponsored by Ted and Marion Gormally from Hennelly’s Bar, Manulla, and it will be a stoke play competition and be a qualifier for the golfer of the year.

Last Sunday’s ladies’ competition was an Australian Spoons competition which was won by the pair of Mary Doherty and Pauline Rowley on a combined score of 35pts. The previous Thursday Elaine O’Hora was with winner of the Blooms and Things 15 hole stableford competition, with Mary Caulfield coming home in third place.

Last Sunday’s gents’ competition sponsored by McGrath’s Quarries, Cong, was won by David Nash with a score of 38pts, with Eddie Burke coming second only one point further behind. Michael J Mullins came home in third place with 36pts, while the Gross prize was won by Gary Brett with a score of 30 gross points.
The ladies’ competition was claimed by Rose Dooley who scored 38pts, with Deirdre Daly on 35pts. Third place went to Eileen Comer with 34pts while Ann Tracey was fourth on 30pts.
Claremorris
The Carpe Diem TJ Farragher Cup was won by Greg Mulkerins with a score of 69nett, with Kieran Canavan coming home in second place. The Gross Prize went to Malachy Monahan with a score of 84 gross points and Darren Reilly took third place. The ladies’ competition was won by Marie Healy, with Riana Kean coming home in second place.
Westport
Today, Friday May 18 is the annual fundraising day for the club at the course. The course will be presented in pristine condition and will be set up in championship style for members and visitors alike. The format of the competition is a four-person team stableford event with two scores to count on the 1st to 17th holes and all four scores to count on the 18th.
In last weekend’s Bertie Staunton, Gents’ Golfer of the Year event, Padraig McLoughlin was the winner with a score of 38pts. He finished up just one point in front of Joe Hastings in second place with Kevin Hastings coming home in third place. Mick McGovern took third place and Liam Halpin took the gross prize.
