Buy My Dress 2012 event taking place in Castlebar

TV presenters Anna Daly and Lisa Cannon helped launch one of Ireland’s most fashion-forward fundraisers, Down Syndrome Centre’s Buy My Dress campaign, supported by Kellogg’s Special K. The Down Syndrome Centre hopes to raise €120,000 this year through the fundraiser, which will take place at various locations around the country on Saturday May 26. The Mayo Buy My Dress sale, which is organised by Jenny Brennan, Virtual Office Worx, will take place in the Velvet Lounge of The Royal Theatre, Castlebar, from 11am to 5pm.

Now in its fourth year, Buy My Dress invites women of all ages, shapes, and sizes to dig out a lonely dress from their wardrobe that is in good condition and donate to the one day sale here in Castlebar.

Buy My Dress promises to be a fantastic ladies’ day out, not only will there be fab frocks and a glass of bubbly for the first 100 attendees but International Smashbox artist Chris Loh and the team from Petals Westport will be on hand to make all the women feel pampered and beautiful with mini manicures and make-overs.

With the help of teams of volunteers who will organise each county event, the charity hopes to sell in excess of 10,000 dresses and is calling on women in workplaces and clubs nationwide to donate a dress over coming weeks. Dresses can be donated at drop-off points: Lakeside Fitness Centre, Ballinrobe; Petals Hair & Beauty, Bridge Street, Westport; The Royal Theatre, Castlebar; Xtra Vision, Bridge Street, Castlebar (until May 14 ); Xtra Vision, Bridge Street, Westport (until May 14 ); Xtra Vision, Pearse Street, Ballina (until May 14 ); Heatons Castlebar and Ballina (until May 19 ); and Unislim classes, Belmullet and Castlebar.
