The mysterious winners of the €2.6 million jackpot have been identified as a couple from Mayo, who collected their winnings yesterday.
The Mayo couple were said to be ‘on top of the world’ as they joined a very exclusive club – the National Lottery’s Millionaires Club. The pair matched the first six numbers drawn in Saturday’s Lotto draw (5 May 2012 ) and scooped €2,688,982 – a half share of €5.3 million jackpot.
The duo, who wish to keep the win private, are regular Lotto players. “We’re delighted,” they said. “It’s all very surreal at the moment. We just can’t believe our luck.”
The happy couple bought their €6 Quick Pick ticket in O’Riordan’s, Station Road, Castlebar, Co. Mayo on the day of the draw. They are yet to make any decisions on how to spend the windfall.
