Mayo Fine Gael TD John O’Mahony has confirmed that a full time garda is to be appointed to Knock village. Deputy O’Mahony has also confirmed that the Garda car will be replaced leading to a full time Garda presence in the community.
“This is really good news for the people of Knock who had raised their concerns with me through local community organisations as well as Parish Priest, Fr Richard Gibbons. Each year almost two million people visit Knock and that has huge positive spin off for the economy in the region.
“The presence of a full time garda in the village will offer great security to the local people and I’d like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the Garda authorities and the local community organisations for all their work.”
