L driver off the road for a year

An unaccompanied learner driver, who had no L plates displayed, was disqualified from driving for one year at Wednesday’s sitting of Castlebar District Court.

Garda Ray Guilfoyle observed Martin McDonagh, 95 Springfield Court, Castlebar, drive on Station Road, Castlebar, on December 14 2011. McDonagh was unaccompanied and had no L plates displayed. He has six previous road traffic convictions. He was not in court nor represented.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined McDonagh €250 and disqualified him from driving for one year. For not having L plates displayed McDonagh was convicted and fined €100.
