After four rounds of the Mayo cycling league Swinford man Kevin Roache has now scored more points in the four races to date than the other 87 starters, he wears the Marrey Bikes sponsored yellow jersey of league leader.
At round four all the strong men of Mayo cycling used their combined strength to reel in the nine minute handicap and set up a bunch finish on the Ballyvary road outside Castlebar. Michael Brady of Westport proved strongest in the sprint beating the Castlebar duo of David Brennan and Ciaran Clarke. With four rounds to go the league is wide open with anyone in the top 20 having a chance of taking the overall title.
On the overall table, Roache leads Ger Corcoran from Westport in second, with Kevin Ryan from Kilmaine and Ballinrobe duo Sean O’Malley and Barry Holian making up the rest of the top five.
