‘Lifelong gifts’ launched for First Communion

Mother of three and entrepreneur, Aine Gleeson, from Ennis, Co Clare, is so adamant that children should appreciate the value of gifts over money at First Communion that she has designed a range of dolls to honour the occasion. The idea was prompted by her own daughter’s Communion, when she saw white envelopes being passed at speed to waiting young hands, with only a fleeting appreciation for the concept of gifting, or the milestone of the day itself.

Already running an online personalised gifting company, www.WowWee.ie, Ms Gleeson promptly set out to design and manufacture a personalised First Holy Communion rag doll, complete with white satin dress and tiara, and personalised with the child’s name. A rag doll for boys includes the child’s favourite sporting team’s logo, be that GAA, rugby, or soccer.

Ms Gleeson said: “My hope is that these Communion dolls will restore a value and appreciation for lifelong gifts and help us to revert to honouring the milestone this day holds in a child’s life.

“The Communion dolls are delivered by courier to the child’s home, and presented in a white gift box with a specially designed gift card, which all add to the aura of the day itself.”
