Mayo Sinn Fein councillor Rose Conway Walsh has welcomed the latest MRBI Poll showing Sinn Féin as the second most popular political party on 21 per cent.
Cllr Conway-Walsh stated: “We fully understand the fluctuating nature of opinion polls but we are pleased that more than one in five people now intend to vote for Sinn Féin. I believe that people are now looking at the real alternatives being put forward by Sinn Féin, particularly around the economy. They see that the austerity, cuts to health care, cuts to education, and anti-rural policies are destroying our country. People are now fighting back and Sinn Féin is showing the real transformational leadership that is needed in these challenging times.
“The current crisis presents an opportunity to create a vision for a new republic. Sinn Féin is engaging in conversation with people throughout this country and throughout this county about how this vision can be realised so that people have control over their own destiny and true equality is achieved.”
