Ballina man stole wine on Good Friday

A man who stole two bottles of Wally’s Hut Chardonnay from a Centra shop in Killala on Good Friday was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday.

Mark Murphy, 54 Ridgepool Village, Ballina, entered Centra in Killala on April 6 2012 where he went under the taped off area at the off-licence and placed two bottles of wine in a hold-all which he had with him. Cunningham, a 37-year-old father of three, was convicted and fined €75. Murphy, who has six previous convictions, was convicted and fined €100 for the theft, and convicted and fined €75 for being intoxicated in a public place.
