Sentencing adjourned for man found with cannabis plant

A Polish man who has been living in Ireland for three years had his sentencing adjourned until July after he pleaded guilty to the possession of a cannabis plant. Inspector Joe Doherty told the court that gardaí searched an apartment at 3 Hughes Apartments, James Street, Claremorris, where Krzyztof Batogowski was living, on June 3 2011 at 8.45pm. During the search they found a cannabis plant in a wardrobe, which had a heat source overhead and had recently been watered. The plant was valued at €400, Inspector Doherty told the court.

Judge Mary Devins asked Batogowski of 40 Elm Park, Claremorris if he was still using cannabis, Batogowski told the court he was trying to stop and he regretted what had happened. Judge Devins adjourned sentencing until July 17, but told the defendant that if there was any hint of him still using cannabis he will be going to jail.
