An Post ‘don’t want to know’ — Weir

The future of Knockmore Post Office was not looking good according to Fine Gael councillor Seamus Weir this week. The Knockmore-based councillor informed the monthly meeting of the council on Monday that he had just come from a meeting with An Post in relation to the proposed closure of the post office in the village and it was not good news.

Also at the meeting were a number of local TDs, and members of the Save Knockmore Post Office Action Committee, but according to Cllr Weir, “I’ve been dealing with An Post and they don’t bend for anyone. They are going to destroy the community we’ve built up there. We’ve even come up with a business plan for the post office, but they don’t want to know.” He went on to say that the TDs were doing their best but they were wasting their time as they cannot influence An Post to change its decision.
