Across the Lough this weekend at Lough Lannagh

Award-winning theatre company The Performance Corporation is taking to the windswept waters of Lough Lannagh, Castlebar this weekend from Friday, April 20 to Sunday April 29 for their latest site-specific adventure, Across the Lough.

The founders of The Performance Corporation include Jo Mangan who has strong family connections in Mayo with her father hailing from Belmullet. Jo and her husband Tom Swift are behind the award-winning company who have performed in many unusual locations all over Ireland and abroad including their production of Lizzie Lavelle and the Vanishing of Emlyclough on the sand dunes at Carne, Belmullet in 2008. Their latest undertaking, written by Tom Swift and directed by award-winning director Louise Lowe will see them take the audience out onto Lough Lannagh.

Across the Lough is an intimate theatrical experience in which a boatman ferries an audience of just three people across the lake in a wooden rowing boat. During the performance the boatman engages with the audience, offering stories, songs and revelations about the challenges and opportunities of life - from youth, to old age, to our final encounter with "the other side". Across the Lough is performed by one of Ireland’s most engaging and talented actors Steve Blount.
