Is your inner performer struggling to break free? Do you, or someone close to you, have a guitar that will not play itself?
Help is at hand. Guitar Made Easy takes complete beginners and teaches them how to play their favourite songs on guitar. In a series of once weekly classes over the space of ten short weeks, you can take the first few steps on a life-long musical journey.
The course takes a radical new approach to teaching music. Pupils don’t have to learn to read music, there are no exams, and no pressure to perform. According to course tutor, Kevin McNicholas, “It’s all about playing music for the sheer fun of it. Playing guitar is not a talent, it’s a skill. That means anybody can learn.”
In recent years, Kevin McNicholas has seen a big increase in the number of parents attending class alongside their sons and daughters. “Classes are a great way for parents to share an interest with their kids. Both benefit, and having someone else in the house to practise with doubles the fun and the motivation. If there are three budding guitarists in your house, you can avail of the 3-for-the-price-of-2 offer. So now mum (or dad ) goes free!”
Classes start in Oranmore on Monday April 16; Galway on Tuesday; Tuam on Wednesday and Castlebar on Thursday. Beginners classes, 7pm; Improvers class, 8.15pm.
