Independent Claremorris Councillor, Richard Finn, has submitted a motion requesting “That Mayo Co. Council proceed immediately with the drafting of a new area plan for Knock together with parking and traffic By-Laws”.
Cllr Finn stated that Knock Area Development Association together with the Tidy Towns Committee are seeking urgent attention to the “Area Plan” for Knock by Mayo Co. Council.
“It is about time that the introduction of Traffic and parking By-Laws together with the overall physical plan for Knock are taken seriously by the County Council. Business people and rate payers in Knock deserve this basic need in recognition of the fact that Knock is one of the country’s major visitor attractions. Knock cannot progress unless Mayo County Council take the lead in providing regulated parking, traffic management and a future overall plan for the town”, Cllr Flynn stated.
