Heritage and literary trails to be developed in the county

Heritage, ecclesiastical and literary trails for the county are all being researched and developed according to heritage officer with Mayo County Council, Deirdre Cunningham.

Speaking at the Cultural, Education, Heritage and Corporate Affairs SPC, the heritage officer said that apart from launching the Mayo Biodiveristy and Mayo Hedgerow booklets; launching a village design scheme for Mulranny and working on one for Cong; that heritage, ecclesiastical, geological and literary trails are being developed, such as the Castlebar heritage trail for the town.

The development of a summer heritage school in the county and examining the economic benefit associated with biodiversity are also being researched.

The SPC proposed to support these policy actions.
