Mayo County Council is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting public art programme LANDMARK and a weekend of events at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar from April 20 to 22.
The weekend will begin on Friday April 20 at 1pm with the official launch of the programme by Councillor Eugene McCormack, Mayor of Castlebar Town Council, and guest speaker on the afternoon is Patrick T Murphy, Director of the RHA.
The weekend involves a wide spectrum of activity including launches, music performances, light displays, workshops, tours, boat-trips and talks at the picturesque lake setting in Castlebar. The public art programme has run alongside a major plan of physical improvements for the Lough Lannagh area, such as new bridges, creating a circular walk around the lake, and new walkways.
The funding for this project has been provided by the Percent for Art Scheme, Dept of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Housing Capital Programme.
