The first three months of the year has seen punctuality improve across all services, measured by the criteria for punctuality set out by the National Transport Authority.
The Westport to Dublin services achieved 97.6 per cent punctuality—punctuality is measured as on time or within 10 minutes of time. Compared to Quarter 1 of 2011, this represents a 5.1 per cent increase in punctuality on Westport to Dublin services.
A spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann said: “We continuously strive for improved timekeeping for our customers. This very strong performance is the result of the efforts of staff in every function in Iarnród Éireann, and the benefits of investment in fleet, infrastructure and other systems in recent years. They demonstrate that even in the difficult financial environment, there is a commitment from all in Iarnród Éireann to delivering the best possible service.”
Already, Dublin-Cork customers are enjoying free wi-fi on board, and all other Intercity trains, including Westport-Dublin, will have wi-fi installed during 2012.
