Boats to hit the water today in Rosmoney

As the skies begin to clear and the weather improves Mayo Sailing Club is anticipating the start of another season. Boats will be lifted into the water at Rosmoney Pier on Friday next, April 6. Alongside the local racing the highlight of the season this year will be a fleet of boats sailing to Galway to be part of the Volvo Ocean Race. Brian Sheridan, the Harbour Master of Galway Docks, travelled to speak to club members on Friday last and gave an enthusiastic talk about the finishing of Round the World race in Galway on July 3.

Many changes will be taking place in Galway in the coming months to facilitate the event. A global village will be built with a temporary bridge across to the Claddagh for the duration of the week in July. So if you have ever had an interest in getting on the water and being part of a sailing club, this is the year. Participate in the Mayo Sailing Club's Taste of Sailing sessions beginning at the club in Rosmoney on Tuesday April 10 at 6.30pm and for four Tuesdays.
