More than 500 planning permissions were granted in Mayo in 2011 according to CSO statistics released this week.
Planning permissions for the year show that a total of 548 permissions were granted — 271 new dwellings, 36 (classified as other ); 207 extensions were granted and 34 alterations and conversions. The total floor area for these permissions was 109,000 square metres.
In quarter four of 2011, 96 permissions were granted — 51 dwellings, five other, 35 extensions, and five alterations and conversions. This equated to 16,000 square metres.
Nationally in the fourth quarter, planning permissions granted fell by 27.7 per cent in comparison to the same period of 2010.
