Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan TD in relation to the housing capital allocations to local authorities worth €251.5 million for 2012. The allocation will support investment under the national regeneration programme, works to improve the standard and energy efficiency of the national social housing stock as well as meeting commitments under the existing contracts for delivering social and voluntary houses. Further multi-annual capital investment programmes for new housing construction projects will be outlined later in the year.
County Mayo has been allocated €3,036,850 for housing supply and the sum of €573,426 has been allocated for improving housing stock including regeneration. Minister Ring continued: “The need for social housing is still growing in the county, therefore, I am pleased that funding will be used on some houses that have remained vacant and bring those vacant stocks back into productive use.”
