New documentary series on Westport Community Radio

WRFM 98.2 (Westport’s Community Radio Station ) has started a new Documentary Hour every Sunday at 1pm. Hosted by Liamy Mac Nally, the programme has already broadcast the Dying for the Cause series on Mayo’s hunger strikers, Jack McNeela, Michael Gaughan, and Frank Stagg.

This Sunday, March 25 Westport native, Major John MacBride will feature alongside his wife Maud Gonne, and their son Seán MacBride, in The MacBrides. The programme examines the death of Major MacBride in 1916, his troubled marriage to WB Yeats’ muse Maud Gonne, and their only child Seán MacBride, a one-time IRA leader, subsequent pacifist, international jurist, Nobel Peace Prize and Lenin Peace Prize winner. The programme includes contributions from many Westport people.
