Duathlon fever hits Castlebar tomorrow

Adventure racing

Tomorrow, Saturday March 24, will see some 300 participants take part in the third annual Harlequin Adventure Duathlon. This is a mix of running and cycling over a hilly course. There is a slight change in the course this year with no off road section, reducing the course to 34.5km instead of the 38km of last year. For those who are taking part a standard racer will do perfectly for the bike sections and your normal runners will do for all of the running sections.

The full duathlon takes in a 3km run, a 6.5km cycle, a 8.5km mountain run, a 14km cycle rounded off with a 3km run. Also taking place on the day will be a mini duathlon comprising a 3km run, a 5km cycle, and a 3km run. Registration will take place in the Harlequin Hotel this evening from 6pm to 8pm and on Saturday from 7.15am to 8.15am.
